Victorian Crochet Beaded Miser’s Bag

Regular price $395

Victorian era double pouch with lovely bead work. Known as a "miser’s bag" or purse - supposedly so named as it was apparently difficult to remove coins from the double pouched bag with sliding ring closures. Examples of miser’s bag go back to the 18th century. Used by both men and women. Can be found in a multitude styles with varying techniques employed - embroidery, crochet,  beading, etc. This one is crocheted and finished with steel beaded fringe and is in rare excellent condition. No rust or oxidation in the beads. Can be carried, slung through a belt or filled with rocks and used as an elegant weapon.
