The school was founded in 1855 and the football program was created shortly thereafter in 1887. The Nittany Lions have won seven national championships and are regularly one of the best collegiate football teams in the country. The team has played at Beaver Stadium, the second largest stadium in the Western Hemisphere, since 1960. In January 1986, after a going 10-0 in their 1985 season, the Nittany Lions went to Miami to face off agains the Oklahoma Sooners in the Orange Bowl. Sadly, they lost 25-10. This vintage Penn State 1986 Orange Bowl hat, deadstock in excellent condition, is perfect for any alumnus or fan.
