Artist Byron Randall, Signed and Dated.
A post-impressionist expressive still life. In the top left a vase with luxurious flowers, while in the forefront there is a banana in a small fruit bowl.
This piece is a great combination of Randall's typical subjects, flowers and fruit.
Randall is a master of filling the canvas with bold colors.
Born in Tacoma, WA on Oct. 23, 1918. Randall was in Salem, OR during the 1930s. He created artworks while working as a cook, waiter, boxer, harvest hand, and other odd jobs. In 1942 he moved to San Francisco and, while shipping out with the Merchant Marine, continued to paint. From 1955-57 he was in Montreal while he painted a mural in the Young Men's and Women's Hebrew Ass'n. In 1959 he opened an art gallery in Mendocino, CA with his wife, Emmy Lou Packard, and in 1970 continued the operation in Tomales Bay, CA. He died in San Francisco, CA on Aug. 11, 1999.
