Antique 19th C Paisley Finely Woven Wool Shawl Throw

Paisley, named after a town in South West Scotland where these
beautiful shawls were factory made in the 1800s. Reproductions
of earlier masterpiece creations, and worn during Victorian times as shawls. Many were reproduced in France and Scotland, this is a spectacular shawl of that kind! In beautiful shades of red ( more of a rust red), green, orange, brown/black. I am selling this for a local antique dealer who is retiring and selling her collections, I will be listing a variety of colors. This one is rare in that it has a very small solid color center (which usually means better quality), Rare also to be of such a large size and to have the color green. We have a photo of the whole shawl shown front & back side.

Measures; approx. 115" by 56".

Lovely condition for a delicate Victorian piece. It does have a few smaller holes needing repair, one larger than the others although fairly minor for a something that has been around since the mid 1800s. One small darning repair. Fraying to the fringe ends which is very common for these. Some areas of thinning which is also very common.

A truly historical and collectable piece of history.
