This treasure is one of only a very small handful I've had from US junior's label Susan Shane. Every single one of the Susan Shane pieces I've had has been wonderful - great use of stripes, buttons, accents. This piece is a post-war style from the label made in linen or a rayon/linen blend of black, and embellished with a colorful woven ribbon. The ribbon, in cream, kelly green and red, is used to create a dramatic shape, broadest at the padded shoulders, narrowing to the waist and chasing the top of the hips. The bodice closes up the front with white buttons and white loops, finishing with attached self-fabric ties for a small bow. The skirt is gored, with a deep center front pleat. This dress is clean and ready to wear. I have hand washed it. There's multiple small imperfections, and I've done my best to catch them, all. Like any imperfect vintage, this is best for someone who is forgiving of flaws rather than seeing them as detracting. I have made some repairs, but most were existing when I acquired it. There a 1"x1" mended L-shaped tear at the center back hem. The front hem has a 1/4" square frayed area at the center front hem that someone secured with fray-check, creating a slightly shiny area. There are four top stitched mends - one at the back of the neck, one at the left front hip, one at the center back, and one at the underside of the left sleeve. The seam below the buttons has been mended in the same way. Finally there's subtle but not invisible fade along the right sleeve and right side of the skirt. I find no other issues to note. It's sturdy and wears well.

These lovely underpants arrived very well packaged. They have never been worn, the silk is glorious and they fit me very well. I do not exactly know what kind of China silk it is but it is a very soft silk which is not brittle at all. It is cajoling the skin like a feather. There are no chemicals etc. in this material. If the loungswear tops are of the same material, I am tempted .... Thank you very much for this item. P.S. I just reread the description of the seller : it is mulberry silk - the queen of silk :) . Wonderful.
