Casual China was Russel Wright's line after his very successful American Modern line. Having the success of American Modern behind his name, Wright was able to secure a supplier that would solve many of the production quality issues that Steubenville had with AM. Casual China was a much more durable line that Wright stood behind by offering an unheard of one year guarantee that your dinnerware would not break or the broken piece could be returned for a replacement. This was a very popular benefit that consumers took advantage of. While American Modern sold more overall in numbers, more Casual China pieces have survived over time, making it overall the more highly regarded line.
Where Casual China falls in esteem with collectors is the line overall is rather schizophrenic in design. This was due to the design provision in the agreement between Iroquois and Wright that Iroquois could request pieces be redesigned or restyled as needed if sales numbers indicated the need to refresh the line. While standard in Wright's contracts, Iroquois invoked this clause more than any other partner of Wright. Over the course of its time, pieces go through several rounds of redesign. This duo, the creamer and sugar, was redesigned at least 3 different times creating the possibility of 5 different versions.
This set is the stacking creamer and sugar, a revised version, I believe. The color was called Pink Sherbet. It measures 4-1/2" tall stacked, each 2-1/4" tall individually. They're roughly 3-1/4" wide. They are in great vintage used shape with no damage to note.
