Harmony House was a Sears & Roebuck line of home goods from the 1940s to 1970s. Everything within the Harmony House line, from curtains and carpet to kitchen and dining ware fell within an established color packing, making it easier for the homemaker to decorate their home. Other companies produced their products for Sears under the Harmony House label, sometimes adjusting existing products to fit their palette. Harmony House dinnerware was no exception, and you will often find similar or even the same pattern with only the Harmony House mark on the bottom.
dAt least a dozen different dinnerware makers produced lines for Sears under the Harmony House label, some reproducing their patterns or others adapting them to fit the Harmony House color palette altogether. Over the decades the number of colors added to the palette grew to 18 as the demands and tastes of customers changed over time. I have not been able to determine the original maker of this pattern, and you'd be surprised at how many are almost identical to this pattern. The likely maker is "Fine China of Japan" as they are credited as a Harmony House dinnerware maker. But I'm unable to uncover if they were an actual company or listing lemmings perpetuating a falsehood over and over.
Regardless, the maker is still inconclusive but Sears was enlisting top makers for their brand so this should come down to whether you like the pattern or not. This is a great mid-century dinnerware pattern that hits on a number of notes from that time period. It's modern in design that hits on themes of nature and the outdoors as well as the atomic era and the beauty of space.
This Harmony House Startflowser Coupe Soup Bowl measures 7-3/4" in diameter and 1-1/4" tall. All are in GREAT vintage used shape with no chips, cracks, or crazing to identify. This is a china pattern that has a more modern forward-looking appeal.
