Antique French Ironstone Compote

Very special, antique French ironstone compote, fruit bowl in a lovely ivory shade. Possibly too pretty to put any fruit in it, you almost don't want to hide the colorful design.

Hand painted daisies on the vine in lemon yellow, indigo blue and light eggplant. A few dragonflies or butterflies flying lazily around. In the middle stands a French countryman out in the field with his scythe. A grass green and indigo border tie it all together. The pedestal also has the same hand painted motif.

Measures; 7" height, 11" bowl width, 6" base width.

Showing a lovely crazing in the pottery which adds to it's charm and shows it's wonderful age. Flea bites and chips at the rim, there is a surface crack in the bowl that is approx 5.5" in length, but doesn't run through the back. The colors are still bright and wonderfully cheery.

A truly a timeworn beauty and perfectly imperfect!! Having a hard time giving this one up!
