The form of this tray was derived from an especially interesting river rock that I found. I traced the outside of the small stone onto a piece of wood, enlarged the outline to the desired size, and starting carving and sanding my way to the final form. After the model is complete, I then make a mold from that model. The mold is what I then cast the high performance concrete into. After the concrete is cured, I grind the bottom using a diamond grinder, seal the tray, and add 3 cork pads to the underside.

I thought I was getting a tray but it's really a gorgeous design object! I almost feel bad putting anything on it, it's so lovely just as it is. The finish is velvety smooth and has a very subtle sheen to it. I was also impressed by the thought and care put into packaging it so it wouldn't get damaged in transit. I definitely recommend the Pebble tray and will be back for more beautiful objects from this vendor in the future.
