Vintage POTTERY CAT. 1970's Sipoo Finland Ceramics. Excellent Vintage Condition. Signed. Approx 7" x 6" x 6" VERY UNIQUE.

Freeform Amorphous Fat Cat. Seated like the queen of the castle (not sure a male feline would be quite so sure of himself!) But you be the judge.

Hand formed, hollow center...perhaps built around something like a balloon which was removed after the clay dried. Grey tan/off white clay. Incised with random lines for fur, bushy tail, front feet and the head with an attitude. A bit of a brutalist feel. Grey Tan Body with Dark Brown Glaze.

It is probably Hogbacka Pottery from Sipoo, which is also called Sibbo, a part of Greater Helsinki, and is located near the Arabia Company.

Great addition to MCM, Scandinavian Pottery, or Finnish Art and Design. Or simply a piece to love and enjoy for its unique style and uniqueness.
A must for the cat lover / fancier.
