Hand crafted in Appalachia USA from solid hardwood (cherry, oak, maple, ash, walnut (walnut is added $600 invoiced separately)). These are very popular and durable woods for high quality furniture. Click the wood choice box above to select your wood. No veneers or compressed particle boards are used. The wood that is not normally seen (such as for slats) is a different hardwood species.
Extra cost options not included in this listing are billed separately.

The bed is custom made for you. The listing price is for natural wood color finished with Tung Oil. This creates a beautiful natural bed. For an additional $80, you can choose from a wide range of colors of stain.
The "headboard" (backboard) is along the long side of the mattress. The "headboard" (backboard) provided is a curved sleigh design shown in the photos.
The bed is a platform configuration for use without box springs. The bed is configured for the upper mattress resting on slats with tops about 1" below the top of the sides (not the front frame). The space between the slats is about 1.5". 20 slats are provided.
The trundle rolls on 6 wheels. The trundle also has about 20 slats. The level of the trundle slats is positioned so that when the trundle is raised, the bottom of the trundle mattress is at the same height as the bottom of the upper mattress.
The trundle can be used in the position that is low to the floor as is shown in the 4th photo. Or it can be used raised so that both mattress bottoms are at the same level. When the trundle is raised it easily attaches to the upper frame with pegs. Thus, the two mattresses are held rigidly in position relative to each other. The distance between the sides of the two mattresses is about 1.5". This gap can be filled with a foam strip. The support boards for the lifted trundle are attached under the trundle and stored there when not in use. When the trundle is lifted they swing down on hinges. The two mattresses butt together when the trundle is raised.
The bed provided with this listing has no arm rests. Arm rests like those shown in the last photo can be added for $195.
Here is a summary of approximate standard heights:
floor to bottom of upper mattress = 16"
max thickness of trundle mattress = 8"
floor to bottom of front frame board = 12"
floor to top of back board = 39"
The side to side width of the bed is about 3" more than the length of your selected mattress size. The front to back depth of the bed is about 4" more than the width of your selected mattress size. With the trundle pulled out the front to back depth is increased by the width of your selected mattress size plus about 1".
The bed is custom made for you. You can request almost any change that you would like.
Most furniture in high priced stores is made of pressed materials with thin veneers. Such materials are easily damaged and are difficult to repair. They also often give off unhealthy fumes.
The bed is shipped in pieces that lay flat in the box. This enables better protection of the product and lower shipping costs. The assembly based on detailed instructions is performed by the buyer. This design is also helpful for people who move because it permits more compact shipping and storage.
