Sometimes nothing beats a solid, raw wood look. We believe that to be true in the case of this very large maple chest. This stunning chest of drawers came out of a 1900s Victorian home (on the second floor!!). When we first brought it home, most of the drawers wouldn't open or close and it was filled with scratches, dings, and missing trimwork. SOLID maple throughout, it is sturdy, *extremely* heavy and incredibly well built. Maple trim pieces surround the exterior of each drawer. The drawers are dovetailed, and the trimwork was built with the intention to cover the dovetails, adding an additional detail to this already special piece. Some trimwork was missing, so we used excess maple wood from additional projects to replace what was lost over the years. Along with sanding down the dresser- including the top, sides and drawer fronts, both the insides of the drawers and the outsides have been sanded down. The inside of the drawers have been refreshed with a combination of Wise Owl Paint's Lavender furniture salve and Unscented Furniture Tonic to add healthy moisture back into the wood. All glides and tracks have been treated with a natural furniture wax to give a smooth glide to the drawers and any previously loose tracks have been repaired. New cup pulls modernize this once-dated chest. Truly a labor of love, this dresser would be an excellent piece for any room in your home. It measures 41.5" wide, 20" deep and 42.5" tall.
