Edward Wormley Chair for Dunbar Model 2424B

$8,000.00

$8,000

United States
circa 1941

Sleekly sculptural chair with a radically slender, curved seat back designed by Edward Wormley and produced by Dunbar Furniture, c. 1940. An early modernist design by Wormley, in an organic design idiom, that transforms a traditional wingback chair into a minimalist abstract composition. This design first appeared in a 1938 Dunbar catalog, and is shown below in the 1941 catalog. Note the herringbone upholstery in the vintage photograph--the present chair has been newly upholstered following the original lines and in an analogous fabric. A highly scarce Wormley item--the only example I've seen.

Condition
Professionally reupholstered and refinished. In fine overall condition.
