French Red Chinoiserie Powder Box
1800s Papier-Mâché Japanned

Incredibly beautiful Chinoiserie Papier-mâché colorful red powder box with lovely gold gilt Asian Tea garden scene around the perimeter and top. It is an old one from the 1800s and has a very nice weight to it and a wonderful quality made piece. Zoom in to see the wonderful hand painted details. Think the red may be a rare color, they are usually in black.

We acquired it with the black one shown...that one is listed
separately for sale in the shop.

Measures; 4.25"height, " by 3.5" width.

Definitely some fading in the hand painted scenes. Showing some edge and surface wear and wear on the interior as
well. It could use a bit of a clean up although we have left
it as found. It has been enjoyed and used for many years.
