Finn Juhl's 1949 masterpiece, the chieftain chair, employs iconography of tribal forms and Juhl’s innovative approach to design which accentuates the separation of the seat, back, and frame imparting a “floating appearance”. The distinctive “horns’ at the top corners reference a historic Egyptian chair design.

This pair, from a 1997 edition by Baker Furniture have frames of walnut and are upholstered in a very light taupe colored leather. The chairs exhibit an overall patina from age and use.
