Philip and Kelvin LaVerne Rare and Important "Repose" Coffee Table 1970s (Signed)
Evan Lobel
Rare and important “Repose” coffee table with cast bronze female nude on a patinated base with bronze tones, welded cords and glass top by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1970s (signed “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” on base). This was done in an extremely small edition (under 5). This work was based on a model who posed for the LaVernes who was having a stressful day. So they captured her emotions for this sculpture. It’s incredibly complex with the human form in a half-turned position face down. This sculpture was designed with the glass integral to the weightiness of the emotions of the model.
