Anzolo Fuga Large Hand-Blown Glass "Murrine Incatenate" Vase ca 1960

Evan Lobel

Exceptional large hand-blown glass vase from the “Murrine Incatenate” series, incalmo with green and pink sections and spiraling yellow and blue murrhines by Anzolo Fuga for Arte Vetraria Muranese (A.V.E.M.). Murano Italy, ca. 1960. This is one of the largest glass designs by Fuga. The artisanship is superb and the colors and movement are breathtaking.

Literature:  Anzolo Fuga, Murano Glass Artist, Designs for A.V.E.M. by Rosa Barovier Mentasti, published by Acanthus Press in 2005, section titled "MURRINE INCATANATE 1959-60", with a description of the series on page 122 and two examples of this model shown on pages 144 and 145.

Provenance: Evan Lobel purchased this piece directly from A.V.E.M. in 2001 as part of a large collection of pieces stored there from the 1940’s, 1950’s and 60’s.
