History
  • Frederick Carder was a renowned glass artist recognized for his innovative techniques at Stuben Glassworks, which has been linked to the production of fine crystal pieces since its founding in the early 20th century.
  • Selenium red is a color historically associated with high-quality crystal, often produced by skilled artisans, marking a significant evolution in glassmaking practices during Carder's era.
  • The integration of color in crystal production, as seen in selenium red goblets, reflects broader trends in the decorative arts, particularly during the Art Deco and mid-century periods.
