Studio craft pottery has its roots in the mid-20th century, often characterized by a focus on craftsmanship and individuality in design, reflecting the artisanal movements of that time.

David Cressey, a prominent figure in the studio craft movement, contributed to a shift towards handmade ceramics that prioritized both form and function, making these pieces beloved by collectors today.

The mid-century modern period, from approximately 1930 to 1965, emphasized clean lines, organic forms, and a connection to nature, influencing the design aesthetics of many home decor items, including lighting.
