Vintage Studio Craft Solid Oak Lounge Chair by Berthold Schwaiger | Mid Century Modern

This studio craft lounge chair was designed and made by master craftsman and artist Berthold Schwaiger. Berthold Schwaiger trained in Germany at the age of fourteen before moving to America and eventually becoming a leading figure in the Chicago furniture making scene. He founded the Chicago Bauhaus Studio and Academy. His unique designs can still be found in museums around America.

The expert craftsmanship in this piece is very apparent from the joinery to the selection of the wood. The beautiful grain of the golden patinated oak and the complex joinery make this chair a piece of art. This sculptural piece would be a beautiful addition to any modernist home.
