History
  • Basic Witz Furniture, founded in Waynesboro, Virginia, during the mid-20th century, has roots in producing distinctive mid-century modern pieces that reflect the design sensibilities of the era.
  • The mid-century modern design movement, which began in the 1940s and lasted through the 1960s, emphasized clean lines, organic forms, and a functional aesthetic, influencing furniture manufacturing across America.
  • Brutalist design, which evolved in the mid-20th century, is characterized by the use of raw materials and an expressive form, often incorporating elements of sculptural artistry, as seen in various furniture pieces from this period.
